Blues: Slow Drag Workshop for Confident Beginners

DF Dance is ecstatic to bring you this Slow Drag Intensive, taught by Emily & Virgil, prominent dancers/teachers in our SLC Blues community. If you have experience with learning blues pulse, posture and close embrace connection, this intensive is for you! We recommend at least 4 weeks of previous Blues experience.

Saturday February 24th from 1pm - 4pm

Slow Drag is the earliest form of blues dancing. It first appeared in the 1890’s to ragtime, but later became popular in juke joints where it was danced to slow blues music. We’ll focus on close embrace & movements within Juke & Ballroom Slow Blues - come enjoy increasing your blues vocabulary!

Schedule: Sat Feb 24 from 1pm - 4pm

1pm: Slow Drag Technique and Styling for both Juke and Ballroom styles, 2pm: Slow Drag movements within the Ballroom style, 3pm: Slow Drag movements within the Juke style.

Who can join: Beginner/Intermediate level. We recommend having at least 4 weeks of previous Blues classes under your belt.

Cost: $35/pp in advance or $45/pp same day. Sign up early to save money!
