Students must take all sections in the current level before moving on to the next level. It is also recommended that students retake sections in order to master the skills & concepts - consult with your instructor to know if a higher level is right for you.
In the case that you miss a class, you can use your pass to attend any drop-in class to make up the value that you paid. We also offer open practices that you can come to & ask DF teachers, TAs, or other students your questions. We also recommend making friends with other students in the class so you can ask a friend what was covered.
We recommend that students wear clothes that they can freely move in. Dance shoes with a leather sole are recommended. We advise against shoes with a rubber sole that will grip the floor. We do sell dance shoes at the studio. Stop by during front desk hours Mon-Thurs 12pm-9pm, Fri 12pm-8pm, or Sat 10am-4pm to try on shoes. Our address is 2978 S State Street in South Salt Lake.
All lessons, whether private or group, are 50 minutes long and begin on the hour.
You have many options! We offer higher level group courses for many dance styles. You can also look into trying some private lessons. These lessons can be tailored to you so you can learn exactly what interests you, progress at YOUR pace, AND dance with a professional instructor.
Yes, we rent our dance studio out for a wide array of private events: birthday parties, quinzeneras, wedding receptions, sweet sixteens, graduation parties...etc. Prices vary from event and depend on the amount of people, duration and other details. Check out our rentals page for more info.
Unfortunately it is hard to say how long it will take someone to learn how to dance. Everyone progresses at their own pace. On average it takes students a minimum of 3 months to become comfortable at the beginner level. You have to try it to find out! If you want to learn more quickly, we recommend private lessons.
We take dance education seriously, so we strongly recommend switching partners. This helps you become a great leader or follower by trying out what you're learning with everyone in the class. However, you do have the option of requesting to stay with your partner if that is your preference. Simply tell the instructor at the beginning of class.
99% of our classes don't require any partner at all! We try to make sure numbers stay as even as possible, and we rotate partners in class frequently so no one is left without a partner for long. Dance is naturally a social skill, we like to keep it that way!
Yes you can! A single class costs $15 and can be taken the first two weeks of a session. Intro to Salsa & Bachata on Wednesdays, Swing & Things on Fridays and Hip Hop on Tuesdays can be joined anytime. To purchase a single class, click "Sign Up" next to your desired style.
Salsa socials are held on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. West Coast Swing socials are held on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month. Blues socials are held on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month. Whatever you choose, you'll have a blast. Socials usually begin with an intro class to get you moving, and then great music & cool lights for the rest of the night. Check our calendar to see dates and times!
We are a wide range of dance styles from Salsa, Bachata, Ballroom, West Coast Swing and Argentine Tango, to Country Western, Country Swing and Blues. Watch videos of each style here.
It really depends on your goal. If you are here to socialize, have fun, and learn a few steps, then group lessons are perfect for you. If you have goals to be a great social dancer, performer, or competitor, private lessons are the way to go.
Policies & Procedures
You can register for dance classes online, over the phone or at the studio. We highly recommend pre-registering before classes start to save time and receive discounted prices!
Go to Beginner Level 1 courses if you are just starting out and register on the website.
Students who have paid should check-in on one of the iPads on the walls of the studio before proceeding to class. Please DO NOT join the class before checking in and remember you will be charged for all classes attended. Thank you!
All passes have an expiration date. Passes activate on the first day of classes and expire the last day of classes during that same month. Please pay attention to the expiration on your receipt and use your package within that time frame. The classes do not "roll over" into other months to ensure more consistent classes and the best possible progression of learning.
All payments for classes should be made BEFORE attending the class. In the case that you are attending more than one class in a night and one of the classes is unpaid, payment should be made before attending the unpaid class. Whenever possible, we recommend paying online to skip the line and save yourself time. We accept cash, Visa, Discover & Mastercard (NO checks or AmEx).
We love you, but there are no refunds on anything purchased online, over the phone, or in the studio.
You can pay for our group classes in 3 different ways: Single class ($15/pp per class), Monthly course ($12/pp per class), 3 months purchased together ($10/pp per class). All cost is per person. Classes don't roll over to the next month. See pricing page for more details.
