What We’re Dancing Into
Friday, October 16 · 8–9 PM
Playing with Shapes
Give your West Coast Swing a new look. Explore shapes in your dancing and play with the possibilities they open up. Bring your curiosity and see where a little creativity takes your next dance.
Then take it to the social floor. Friday social admission is included.
Saturday, October 17 · 1–4 PM
Movement → Partnership → Music. Each workshop builds on the last, with ideas ranging from foundational to advanced. Follow the full progression; each class also makes sense on its own.
1–2 PM · Movement
Own Your Motion
Find your balance, build control, and bring more power to your movement. Start with solo body awareness, then bring it into your partnered dancing.
2–3 PM · Partnership
Match the Moment
Tune in to the dancer in front of you. Work on connection, adapt to each other, and play with matching energy and shape—all with a partner.
3–4 PM · Music
Make It Musical
Put your movement to music. Work with a partner on five-count patterns and musical choices that land on phrase changes.
Open practice follows Saturday’s workshops. Stay, play with what you learned, and get a few more dances in.

Meet Alexis Garrish
Alexis is a West Coast Swing champion, instructor, and judge with more than 20 years of dance experience. She teaches with a focus on technique and confidence, and brings plenty of humor to her classes.
This weekend brings that approach to your own dancing: explore shapes on Friday, then spend Saturday working from individual movement through partnership and music. The social and open practice give you time to try those ideas beyond the workshop.
Who Can Join?
Social dancers and competitors are welcome. You should be very familiar and comfortable with your West Coast Swing basics. Six months or more of WCS experience is recommended.
DF Level 2+ students who are comfortable with their basics are welcome. Competition points are not required.
