DF Academy

DF Academy is a new long-form training path at DF Dance Studio for dancers who want a more structured and progressive way to improve. It is designed for students who are ready to prioritize consistency, technique, and long-term development over an extended period of time.

The first Academy track launches the week of May 4th, 2026 with Salsa / Mambo training. Other style tracks are planned to follow. DF Academy is not meant to replace the studio’s flexible class options — it exists alongside them as a different path for dancers in a different season of commitment.

Three Valuable Ways to Grow at DF

Flexible Path

Classes, Memberships & Community-Based Growth

DF’s regular classes, unlimited memberships, and flexible attendance options are an important part of what makes the studio special. They help dancers build strong social dance fundamentals, stay connected to community, and keep progressing in a way that works with real life.

Performance Path

Performance Teams

DF’s Performance Team program is another powerful way to grow through choreography, accountability, coaching, rehearsals, and performance experience. It is a strong fit for dancers who want to train with a team and develop through that process.

Academy Path

Structured, Progressive, Long-Term Training

DF Academy is for dancers who are in a season where they can commit more deeply to their progress through consistent attendance, progressive enrollment, and structured assessment.

Unlike Performance Teams, Academy is not focused on performance. It is focused on deeper long-term technical development.

What Makes It Different

Not a Drop-In Program

DF Academy is designed for dancers who want a more serious and connected learning environment. Instead of moving between classes based only on weekly availability, Academy students follow a structured track with progressive attendance, progressive enrollment, and clear standards for advancement.

Who It’s For

Built for Dedicated Students

This path is for students who can commit to an extended period of focused training, maintain a consistent schedule, and dedicate several hours per week to learning technique, timing, movement quality, and style-specific foundations.

How DF Academy Works

Structured Enrollment

Students enter the track at the level that best fits them, then continue through a more connected path instead of random one-off attendance.

Consistent Training

The program is built around regular participation. Students are expected to show up consistently and treat progress like a real process.

Advancement by Assessment

Moving up is not automatic. Leveling happens through structured assessments so students advance with more clarity and stronger foundations.

Launching First

Salsa / Mambo Track

The first DF Academy path will focus on Salsa On2 / Mambo development, giving Salt Lake City dancers a more intentional way to build technique, timing, partnerwork, shines, musical understanding, and long-term confidence.

This track launches the week of May 4, 2026 and is directly connected to DF’s new partnership with Empire Mambo.

Entry Point

Mambo Experience Placement

Dancers attending the Mambo Experience on Saturday 04/25 will have the opportunity to be placed into the appropriate DF Academy level by the visiting Empire Mambo teachers.

That makes the workshop weekend both a training event and a launch point for dancers who are ready to begin the Academy path in the right place.

Who Tends to Fit DF Academy Well

  • Dancers who want stronger long-term structure in their learning
  • Students ready to prioritize progress with regular weekly commitment
  • Dancers who value correction, assessment, and progressive development
  • Students who want a more connected technical path in Salsa / Mambo
  • Dancers who have already built consistency through regular DF classes
  • Students who have enjoyed the commitment of multiple DF performance team seasons
  • Dancers who are ready for a similar level of dedication even when there is not always a performance at the end
  • Students looking for a clearer next step in their development
