Purpose

Why this exists

DF Dance Studio is dedicated to providing a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for all. This Code of Conduct sets clear expectations so everyone can learn, improve, and have fun—together.

1) Respect & Courtesy

How we keep DF friendly, professional, and fun.

Be Kind

How we treat each other

  • Treat students, staff, and guests with dignity—regardless of skill level, background, or identity.
  • Use respectful language. Crude, demeaning, or sexually suggestive comments are not tolerated.
  • Respect personal space and boundaries on and off the dance floor.
In Class

Class culture expectations

  • If rotation is part of class, be open to dancing with different partners.
  • Unsolicited teaching/correcting other students during class is discouraged—let instructors teach.
  • Offer feedback only when asked, and keep it constructive.

3) Hygiene & Studio Etiquette

Small habits that make partner dancing comfortable and the studio clean.

Hygiene

Respect your partners

  • Clean attire, deodorant, and fresh breath are appreciated (and expected).
  • Bring water—dance is athletic.
  • If you’re sick, please rest and return when you’re well.
Floor & Space

Studio rules that protect the floor

  • Use appropriate dance footwear. Avoid street shoes on studio floors.
  • Keep belongings in designated areas. DF is not responsible for lost items.
  • Food/drinks (other than water in closed containers) are not allowed on the dance floor.
  • Late arrivals may not be admitted (for safety and class flow).

4) Prohibited Behavior

These behaviors may result in immediate removal from the studio and/or further action.

Not allowed at DF

We take safety and community seriously. The list below is not “exhaustive”—if it creates an unsafe or hostile environment, it’s not okay.

  • Sexual harassment (comments, advances, or unwanted physical contact).
  • Bullying, intimidation, threats, or physical aggression.
  • Discrimination or harassment based on protected characteristics.
  • Attending classes or events while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Damaging studio property or the personal property of others.
  • Recording other students without their consent.
  • Soliciting/recruiting/promoting competing instruction or outside businesses on DF premises or at DF events without written approval.

5) Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it. Reports are taken seriously, reviewed promptly, and handled with discretion. Retaliation for good-faith reporting is not allowed.
